The Scott Practice Joins the Green Impact for Health Scheme
At The Scott Practice, we are committed to providing high-quality healthcare while also considering the wider factors that influence our patients' health and wellbeing. We are pleased to announce that we are participating in the Green Impact for Health (GIFH) scheme, a national sustainability programme designed specifically for general practice.
Green Impact for Health supports GP practices to make practical changes that improve environmental sustainability, reduce waste, and promote healthier lifestyles for both patients and staff. The programme recognises that a healthy environment is closely linked to healthy communities.
As part of our participation, we will be reviewing a range of areas across the practice, including:
- Reducing unnecessary waste and improving recycling.
- Making more efficient use of energy and resources.
- Encouraging sustainable travel where possible.
- Supporting social prescribing and community wellbeing initiatives.
- Promoting healthier lifestyles that benefit both personal health and the environment.
- Reviewing ways to reduce the environmental impact of healthcare delivery while maintaining safe, effective patient care.
Many of the actions within the scheme also bring direct health benefits, such as encouraging physical activity, improving air quality awareness, supporting vulnerable patients, and reducing unnecessary medication waste.
We will be working as a team throughout the year to identify improvements, share learning, and make positive changes that contribute to a more sustainable future.
By taking part in Green Impact for Health, we aim to play our part in creating a healthcare system that is good for our patients, good for our community, and good for the planet.
We look forward to sharing updates on our progress with you.
